Music Subject Leader: Miss H Wright
Intent
At Netherbrook, we use ‘Music Express’ to teach the Music curriculum. This enables our pupils to gain a firm understanding of what music is through listening, singing, playing, evaluation, analysing and composing across a wide variety of styles, traditions and musical genres. We are committed to ensuring children understand the value and importance of music and are able to use their musical skills, knowledge and experiences to involve themselves in music, in a variety of different contexts.
The Music curriculum has been designed so that our pupils:.
Develop their skills, knowledge and understanding, to enable them to be become confident performers, composers and listeners
Are introduced to a variety of genres of music from around the world and across generations, recognising the multicultural nature of our school
Develop their musical skills through singing, playing instruments, composing music and responding to music that they listen to
Develop transferable skills which are key in their development as learners and have a wider application in their lives both inside and outside of school e.g. teamwork, leadership, creative thinking, decision making and performance skills
