Welcome to our Early Years Foundation Stage Unit. Our EYFS Unit creates an exciting, positive and stimulating environment, which gives all pupils the opportunity to thrive and become independent learners, reaching their potential and beyond!
Our EYFS Unit consists of children from both Nursery and Reception classes. Our pupils learn, share, work and play together in our well‐resourced areas, both indoors and outdoors. All pupils work with a variety of adults who form the EYFS team.
The unit is designed and organised so there are well defined areas for adult led activities to take place whilst also allowing for successful free flow to occur during child initiated time. During this time, children have the opportunity to independently access a variety of exciting and engaging activities, allowing staff to make accurate observations of the children’s learning and plan suitable provision to meet the next steps in their learning.
The curriculum within the Early Years Foundation Stage is planned around four main themes:
A Unique Child
Every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.
Positive Relationships
Children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and/or a key person
Enabling Environments
The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children’s development and learning.
Learning and Development
Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and all areas of Learning and Development are equally important and inter-connected.
